Agricultural Benefits - Saving and Costs

Costs
The total cost of a solar power system includes the Photovoltaic (PV) system and installation.
Your PV system’s cost will depend on several factors, including the system size, the energy efficiencies of your business and other possible site related factors.

  • A Small-scaled PV systems with built-in inverters that produce about 1,000 watts of power will typically cost around $8 per watt or $8,000.
  • Mehr Solar can provide you with a free commercial site evaluation and cost estimate. Call us to schedule an informal meeting today

Remember, the federal tax credit, the state incentives, rebates by some cities and utility companies, can significantly reduce the cost of purchasing a PV system.  We will do all the paper works and secure all the credits, incentives and rebates for you.

Savings
Following savings on your solar system can be realized for various states

  • Your system will pay for itself by eliminating or greatly reducing your electric bill; some systems have paid for themselves in as little as 4.5 years

  • The economies of scale realized with some larger systems can substantially reduce costs

  •   Utility rebates and incentives in most states, can reduce the costs by 30% to 75%!

  • There is an additional 30% federal tax credit for the cost of your system (in addition to state rebates)

  •  Sell your excess power production back to your utility company for credits used during times of lower production or greater power need

  •  Net Metering utilizes a bi-direction meter that actually spins your meter backwards

By working with us, we will help you reduce your electric bill even further with helpful suggestions about what you can do to increase your energy efficiency.

Rebates and tax credits currently equal nearly 50% of the cost of your solar system. Take advantage of these incentives as well as all the other available benefits of solar energy systems:

  • 30% Federal tax credit for systems placed in service in applicable year,
  • State Energy Commission rebate of $2.50 per watt for agricultural,
  • 7.5% State Tax Credit, applied to the net cost of the system after rebates, available up to 7 years after installation,
  • Federal 5-year accelerated depreciation for solar equipment
  • State standard capital equipment straight-line depreciation,
  • Protect your business against energy rate increases,
  • Solar installations will increase the value of your property while you benefit from legislative protection prohibiting county property tax increased related to the installation,
  • System pay-back periods are within 4-12 years,
  • Loan interest deductions are available; see your tax consultant.
